Bill Belichik: Back With The New York Giants!

Yes, Giants fans. You read right. The mastermind behind our Super Bowl XLII rivals, and of course Spygate, is back with the New York Giants…for one day anyway. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Big Blue’s first Super Bowl win. A mega celebration is already set and Mr. Personality will be on hand to mingle with Giants fans. But don’t expect to get an autograph.

Belichik will not be the only ex-Giants coach turned Patriot on hand. Bill Parcells will also be in attendance along with the entire coaching staff and a list of players from the ’86 team the length of a linesman’s arm. It will definitely be an affair to remember. But the question is, will the tension in the air be thick enough to cut with a knife?

There is no doubt that there are still some hard pills yet to swallow for New England resulting from their “dream season” marred up by the 2007 New York Giants. That is plain to see whenever one is up in the New England territory. In many a window you will find the Patriot sticker, “18-0.” It’s almost as if an entire region has chosen to live in denial, suppressing that “ONE GIANT LOSS.” It should also be noted that the Patriots have not won a playoff game since the Giants beat them in Super Bowl XLII.

Regardless of Belichik’s overwhelming pep and underhanded transgressions, the fact of the matter is that he was instrumental in helping the New York Giants win Super Bowl XXI. The celebration takes place on June 12th, 2011 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center from 8:30 am – 1PM. Lawrence Taylor, who recently plead guilty to statutory rape, is another esteemed Giants alumnus on the guest list. That alone should provide any killjoys present a bit of fodder to graze on.

There will definitely be no shortage of gossip to chew on, for those interested in doing so. However, given the price tag for this event, $199 for general seating, it would seem that this will be a gathering of TRUE BLUE fans for this breakfast of champions. Yes, it might seem strange to have Bubbly Bill back in the fold but the fact remains that without him we MIGHT not have won the Lombardi Trophy that year. Every player and coach on the ’86 roster deserves the accolades that they will receive at the 25th Anniversary Extravaganza, despite what team they work for today.

The event will be hosted by Michael Strahan. General seating and VIP tickets are still available. The list of players who will appear is nothing short of astounding. Can Giants fans put aside their personal feelings for Bill Belichik who will be coming into our camp, flat out refusing to sign autographs and embrace him one last time? Would you?
