I’m Baaaaaaaack…

Hey all, I’ve returned from a bit of rest, relaxation, and some of the best fly fishing venues in the North Eastern United States.

If you’re into fishing for trout in the Adirondacks of Northern New York — you’ll want to check this out.  If not, check it out anyway.  If you can’t stand the thought of looking at beautiful wild brown, brook, and rainbow trout — keep reading about the NFL lockout.

Details on my fly fishing trip report after the jump…

My annual trip to the Adirondacks with my father went well…. we caught over 50 fish in the 10-22″ range.  Mostly we were dealing with wild brown trout at my friend’s retreat – Papa Bear’s Outdoors.  If you want to cast to prolific monster wild trout, that’s the place for you… believe me. There, I broke off several huge fish but I was fortunate enough to land a 22″ wild brown trout that took me several minutes and about 150 yards of battlefield to bring to net.  Easily the best moment of fishing bliss I’ve EVER had… a situation right out of A River Runs Through It for sure.  This thing was a BEAST, and I caught him on custom fly that I developed for that stretch of river after visiting the property last year for the first time.  The only thing more fulfilling would have been to learn of the end of the NFL lockout upon my return, that Plax was signed with the Giants, that Ahmad Bradshaw was retained for 4 more years and had solved his fumbling issues, and that the Giants were in negotiations with TE Mercedes Lewis and FB Vonta Leach. But while those NFL dreams didn’t come true — my fly fishing one’s absolutely did.  Check out some of the first bit of action before my iPhone ran out of battery life:

That last one was a 16″ pig. I’ll have some more pictures up and hopefully the 21-22″ hog that I caught came out on the disposable camera I had with me. If you’re interested in learning more about where I was last week and over the weekend, leave a comment or email me and I’ll set you up. Tight lines!
