According to PFT this morning, Albert Haynesworth is about to be a New England Patriot…. assuming he can pass his physical:

This is possibly going to be the biggest price paid for a free agent bust ever by the Redskins — and a seriously major steal for the Pats. We’re talking about a 5th rounder spent in 2 years for one of the best DE’s in the league!
"In a blockbuster trade for a player who’s capable of being one of the best defensive linemen of the league — or one of the biggest headaches in the league — the Washington Redskins have traded Haynesworth to the New England Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports."
You know, the Patriots don’t run a typical 3-4 or 4-3, it’s kind of a hybrid system that relies on both schemes over 60 minutes depending on personnel. That means big Al won’t be playing more than 35 snaps approximately, and when he does play he should be effective. Beyond that — I wouldn’t be surprised to see Haynesworth change the face of the defense if he can get back to form and get after the QB consistently. Any time he spends on the outside as a pass rusher — opposed to the inside space clogger he was for the Redskins — the happier he’ll be and the more effective he’ll be. Plus, it’s the Patriots — a team that is dedicated to getting back to their Superbowl winning ways and knows how to win….
This could be a monster year for a monster DE in Albert Haynesworth. I’m just glad he’s out of the NFC East.
