Big Trade In The Works For Giants?

The Giants have been mired in distractions this year — from Osi Umenyiora to Kevin Boss signing in Oakland. So why have the Giants been mum about these issues? Why does it look like the Giants are letting their talent leave to sign elsewhere without putting up a fight?

Well the Star-Ledger’s Mike Garafolo and Zach Berman discussed the issues pertaining to the Giants handling of these situations… and Mike Garafolo alludes to the fact that the only logical conclusion as to WHY the Giants didn’t come close to matching the Raiders offer for Boss is that a trade may be in the works.

What kind of trade or who might be involved? I have no idea, and Garafolo gives no indication that the Giants are actually in the middle of negotiations or talks with anyone. But what are we to think? Since when don’t the Giants value characters like Boss who play hard, know the system well, and are just all around great guys?

Frankly, the EASIEST thing to do would be nothing, and use the players that they have in camp — which includes Umenyiora at DE, and Pascoe, Beckum, and three other TEs creating competition. And this may ultimately be what the Gaints are focused on, not some kind of phantom trade situation with tons of moving parts.

Of course, you never know… a trade could indeed be in the works and I’m busy trying to pump the keepers of the Star-Ledger rumor mill for answers as I type this.
