Coughlin Thought Steve Smith Would Be A Giant All The Way

Here’s a memorable quote from the Star-Ledger today covering Tom Coughlin’s presser about WR Steve Smith signing with the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

"“I’m disappointed, obviously. We thought he’d be a Giant all the way, with the circumstances and the fact (Giants team physician Russ) Warren did the surgery. I think we know quite a bit about what it takes to get him back on the field. But having said all of that, we certainly know that’s the nature of our business. There are some disappointing factors involved, which I’m not going to get into because I’m not the one to speak on that. But we’re disappointed he’s not here.”"

Meanwhile GM Jerry Reese has declined to speak with the press. Shocked? Not as shocked as I was when I heard Smith was bolting for the Birds last night… nor that Oakland signed Boss out from under the Giants. Nor…… ahh you get the point.
