Eagles Simply Doubled Giants Offer For WR Steve Smith

facebooktwitterreddit

Rumors are floating around that the Giants offered WR Steve Smith $2million for 1 year, $1million in guaranteed money. The Eagles then swooped in and doubled the contract, straight up for $4million, $2million guaranteed.

So once again, the Giants lost out on a key player for not offering enough guaranteed money. Despite the fact that the Giants were never brought back into the negotiation after Smith met with the Eagles, the Giants should have had a standing offer to match any other offer for Eli Manning’s #1 playmaker….

Unless of course the team believes MORE in the guys they have at camp right now in Hixon, Cruz, Barden, Reynaud, and somewhat Beckum. I’ll say this, the reports out of training camp are that Hixon, Cruz, and Reynaud have been homerun hitters this year with multiple deep balls going for TDs in drills for each player. Something to think about, maybe the Giants felt the guys on their current depth chart were as good or better than Smith all-around.

We’ll see…
