5 Burning Questions About the Giants

Note to reader- There are so many questions hovering around the NY Giants that I found it somewhat difficult to auger down to only 5. But 5 was the assignment so 5 it is. I am confident many of you will have a different list and I would be pleased to see your list of burning questions.

1) Eli Manning-I must confess that I am somewhat ambivalent as far as Manning is concerned. I find his body language, his “Oh shucks” country colloquialisms, and his frustrating lack of accuracy most disturbing. Yet conversely and perhaps just as frustratingly, he shows moments of moxie, agility, and excellence (see The Catch, circa 2008 Super Bowl) leaving one scratching their head in surprise and bewilderment. For the Giants to have any degree of success, Eli must perform at a consistently higher level than ever before. Lacking his security blankets that served him so well in the persons of Plaxico Burress and Steve Smith (and even Kevin Boss to some degree), Eli must find a new safe harbor, be it Victor Cruz or Jake Ballard or some other player who emerges from unknown to impactful. Sounds simple in theory but one rarely develops such rapport with an unproven player during the season. The lockout really hurt the Giants in this instance. Should Eli channel some of his brother’s ability and persona, it is feasible that he alone can carry the team to a few additional victories although that scenario is probably more suited for Hollywood than the harsh realities of The National Football League.
