In 2008 then Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez wanted out of Kansas City. He was sick of the losing atompsphere. Gonzalez, who was nearing the end of his career, was in search of a ring. Just a year ago the Giants had won it all, and with the trade of TE Jeremy Shockey to the Saints, the Giants could have used a big time tight end to fill that void. Gonzalez thought New York would be the perfect fit for him. “I think about it all the time,” Gonzalez said at his locker today. “I was pushing for that, too. But it didn’t happen; I think they thought I was too old back then.” Gonzalez, who is likely to be enshrined in Canton one day, ranked fourth in receptions by a tight end (80) and fourth in touchdowns (7), even at the age of 35 years old. It will be interesting to see how Gonzalez fairs against a Giants defense who have given up big plays to the tight end.
