Today In Mock Drafts

Okay, so it’s time for me to stop mocking all the mock drafters and put myself out there to be mocked by the people I’ve been mocking all draft season long and for you loyal This Week In Mock Draft readers to tell me how bad my mock drafting skills are.

And the only way to do that is by providing you with my very own mock draft of this year’s first round of the 2012 NFL Draft and without further ado here it is…

  • 1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
  • 2. Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
  • 3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT, USC
  • 4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
  • 5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
  • 6. St. Louis Rams: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
  • 7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
  • 8. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
  • 9. Carolina Panthers: Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
  • 10. Buffalo Bills: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
  • 11. Kansas City Chiefs: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
  • 12. Seattle Seahawks: Melvin Ingram, LB, South Carolina
  • 13. Arizona Cardinals: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
  • 14. Dallas Cowboys: Mark Barron, Safety, Alabama
  • 15. Philadelphia Eagles: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
  • 16. New York Jets: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
  • 17. Cincinnati Bengals: Courtney Upshaw, LB, Alabama
  • 18. San Diego Chargers: Cordy Glenn, OL, Georgia
  • 19. Chicago Bears: Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
  • 20. Tennessee Titans: Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
  • 21. Cincinnati Bengals: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
  • 22. Cleveland Browns: Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
  • 23. Detroit Lions: Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
  • 24. Pittsburgh Steelers: David DeCastro, OG, Stanford
  • 25. Denver Broncos: Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State.
  • 26. Houston Texans: Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
  • 27. New England Patriots: Dont’a Hightower, LB, Alabama
  • 28. Green Bay Packers: Shea McClellin, LB, Boise State
  • 29. Baltimore Ravens: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
  • 30. San Francisco 49ers: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
  • 31. New England Patriots: Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
  • 32. New York Giants: Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford

So, that’s what I think the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft might look like but that I’ll probably get wrong. My wish is for the Giants to trade up and draft Kuechly but that would probably cost too much and won’t happen. I went with Fleener instead of other players just because of the immediate need the Giants have at tight end, yes, even with the signing of Martellus Bennett. Doug Martin, the running back out of Boise State is another name I could see going to the Giants after Jacobs’ departure but I have faith in Da’Rel Scott being able to step up this year and take on more of an active role in the running game, which made me lean towards Fleener as my final mock choice for the Giants at the end of the first round. Guess we’ll just have to wait to find out what actually goes down for the Giants and every other NFL team during the draft tomorrow.

If you want to post your own mock draft do so in the comments and I’ll go over the results in a post-mortem This Week In Mock Drafts.
