The New York Giants have announced that starting center Jim Cordle will be placed on season-ending injured reserve with a patella tendon injury. Cordle was replacing veteran David Baas who suffered a season ending knee injury in week 7. Kevin Boothe will take over the quarterback exchanges full-time, with reserve James Brewer inheriting Boothe’s left guard responsibilities. 25-year old practice squad guard Stephen Goodin, an undrafted FA from Nebraska-Kearney, will take Cordle’s spot on the active roster. The injury will hamper the Giants from a depth perspective more than anything else. Cordle posted a -5.4 overall rating in ten active games according to Pro Football Focus, and the Jints ran the ball with great success on Sunday in Boothe’s 34 run blocking snaps.
