Play #2 | Week 4 at Kansas City | The punt return

A 3rd and 17 pass to Victor Cruz, originally ruled a first down on the field, is challenged by Andy Reid… and reversed. The subsequent punt resulted in perhaps the most backbreaking play of the 2013 season. Thanks to a pair of timely interceptions, the Giants were down by just a field goal deep into the third quarter, testing the valor of  a confident Chiefs team in their friendly confines. This despite converting on 1/12 third down opportunities to that point — but the last failure loomed the largest. Steve Weatherford’s punt was returned 89 miss tackle filled yards by Dexter McCluster, giving the Chiefs a two-score cushion and sucking all life out the sideline. Can you say, domino effect? Losing mentality solidified.
