This week’s installment of the FanSided mock draft was assembled by Erik Lambert at NFL Mocks. The Giants went for a cornerback at #11, selecting Jim Thorpe Award winner Darqueze Dennard from Michigan State. Standing at 5’11 with a nearly 6’4 wingspan, Dennard possesses the requisite physical attributes and plays the position with instinctual aggressiveness. He takes receivers out of their comfort zone, reads formations, and hones in on route tendencies. In 2013 he’s recorded 59 tackles (33 solo), broke up ten passes and intercepted four.

Dennard will most likely be a top-10 selection on draft day. Should the Giants miss out on “their guy”, depth at CB includes: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (Oregon), Justin Gilbert (Oklahoma State), Bradley Roby (Ohio State) and Jason Verrett (TCU). Depending on combine performance, none of the secondary names appear to be top of the round talents.

Check out Dennard and Michigan State’s elite-level defense in the Rose Bowl against Stanford, 5:00 PM EST on New Year’s Day. The Spartans are 5.5-point underdogs.
