NFL Mock Draft 2014: Top Half of Round 1

3 of 17

Oct 26, 2013; College Station, TX, USA; Texas A

2. St. Louis Rams (from Washington)
Jake Matthews
OT, Texas A&M

There is already talk that this pick is for sale.  The Rams are trying to do what the Patriots have done which is to sell their top tier picks for more picks.  You can bet to hear talk about this until Rodger Goodell walks to the podium for the second time.  If the Rams do decide to use the pick they acquired from the Redskins I would bet it goes towards protecting QB Sam Bradford.  Jake Long has just recently had his ACL surgery which means there is a chance he is not ready for the start of the season.  The St Louis defense is pretty good — that being said, with Jadeveon Clowney they would be ridiculous.  As good as Jadeveon is projected to be, he has more risk than the two offensive linemen at the top of this year’s draft which include Jake, and Auburn OT Greg Robinson.
