Sources with knowledge of the situation have informed the Newark-Star Ledger that the Giants will cut David Baas. The veteran center was set to earn $8.2 million next season, but only $1.775 million will come off the team’s salary cap. The remaining $6.45 will count as “dead money” further hamstringing Jerry Reese and co.
The Giants placed the 32-year old on Injured Reserve following a knee injury suffered in week 7 versus Minnesota. Green Bay’s Evan Dietrich-Smith and New Orleans’ Brian De La Puente have been rumored targets for New York. Either would be a handsome addition keeping the interior pocket clean for Eli Manning.
