News broke earlier today from Mike Klis via Twitter that the Giants have signed ex-bronco center JD Walton. The details of the contract were not released, but it should be safe to assume that it came on the cheap.

Walton was the starting center from the moment he was drafted in the third round in 2010 until he was injured in 2012. He has not played since.

GM Reese is on a roll when it comes to finding quality guys that want to play. Walton was effective in his first couple years in the league for the Broncos, and while he might not end up being the starting center for the team, he could provide valuable depth behind whomever is.

This is a high upside move that should not cost a ton of money. If the coaching staff can maximize this guy’s talent, then he could be another steal in free agency.
