According to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network, the Giants and Jon Beason have agreed to terms on a new deal. Terms of said contract have yet to be disclosed, but he should earn in the $3 million per year range.
The veteran linebacker (29) will return to New York despite relentless interest from suddenly defensive-crazed Denver. Following the 2013 season, Beason was quoted as saying “I don’t plan on going anywhere, ever. Ever. He’s a man of his word, rewarding the Giants for granting him the opportunity to revitalize his career.
In addition to his intangible and leadership traits, Beason recorded 104 tackles — 72 solo — in 12 games with the Giants. He struggled mightily in pass coverage, however, grading out at -16.0 by Pro Football Focus. Opposing quarterbacks completed 81% of passes in his general vicinity, and receivers racked up 339 yards after the catch.
