With an April full of news winding down, NFL fans from all over the nation turn their attention to the 2014 draft. But one of the biggest news stories to break at this time is the official 2014 NFL schedule being announced, which fans can use to start to predict the outcome of the upcoming season (unsuccessfully most of the time).
Whether or not you wait for the list in anticipation or dread, it provides fans with just a bit more to nibble on as we head into offseason programs.
Let’s take a quick look at the New York Giants opponents for next season as we prepare for the schedule release.
Home opponents:
The Philadelphia Eagles
The Dallas Cowboys
The Washington Redskins
The San Francisco 49ers
The Arizona Cardinals
The Atlanta Falcons
The Indianapolis Colts
The Houston Texans
The Giants will have to play near perfect football to protect their home turf next season, as every team they play will be vying for a playoff spot. The Texans and Falcons are set out to prove that their poor seasons in 2013 were a fluke and that they are legitimate Superbowl contenders. They also have to face the NFC West, arguably the best division in football.
Away opponents:
The Philadelphia Eagles
The Dallas Cowboys
The Washington Redskins
The Seattle Seahawks
The St. Louis Rams
The Detroit Lions
The Tennessee Titans
The Jacksonville Jaguars
While the away opponents are slightly easier than the home opponents, they are no walk in the park either. They have to go to the defending Superbowl champions Seattle Seahawks home turf, where they almost never lose. Dangerous opponents in the Lions and Rams are on the docket as well. While the easier opponents — the Jaguars and the Titans — may seem like free wins, both teams have improved this offseason and won’t go out without a fight.
While we wait for the schedules to be released tomorrow, we can only hope that with this hard of a schedule, the NFL gave the Giants a little help with the order of things.
