An NFL rookie being the victim of a girlfriend hoax? Stop me if you’ve heard this story before. Last year, Manti Te’o was the victim of an alleged catfish with his “girlfriend” Lennay Keuka, but this story with the Giants’ newly beloved Odell Beckham Jr. is different.
You see, OBJ didn’t get cat-fished, he was being harassed by a woman claiming to be his fiancee.
Beckham, who was the New York Giants’ first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, doesn’t know who the woman behind this hoax is. In an effort to find the person responsible, he has asked the NFL to investigate the matter in addition to the private investigator his family has hired.
"He’s concerned. He put it in the hands of investigators. – Odell Beckham Sr."
You can see some of the text messages from the girl claiming to be his fiancee here.
Apparently, she fabricated a lie of an apparent breakup after walking in on OBJ and two strippers days after their engagement. She says that they worked it out months later and plan to get married in March of 2015.
The Giants can only hope that the alleged remarks and statements are false, as a scandal that involves their highly touted first round pick is not the best way to start the season.
