5. Dan Fox: I know what you fans are saying: “Why DAN FOX of all people?” The reason for me is the value he brought on Notre Dame’s linebacking corps. Initially playing at SAM for the Fighting Irish, Fox spent his final season in South Bend as an interior linebacker. He showed above average athleticism and playing speed, along with decent instincts. On film, one can see a beast that flashes greatness, making strong tackles and fishing through traffic for run stops. In coverage, Fox shows some quick reactions when playing in zone.

Where he remains a question mark is in his man coverage and consistency. His talent does not flash down in, down out, and he benefited greatly from the talent around him. If he can truly appreciate and absorb the pro-level coaching he will receive, along with learning from other professionals like Beason, McClain and such, Fox could make the jump. But again, like Herzlich, Paysinger and Kennard, this jump is far from certain.
