Jon Beason going down will certainly slow the progress of the Giants’ defensive chemistry. While he is not done for the year (certainly this could have been much worse) his absence still leaves the need for someone to step up in the present. While this may prove detrimental, Giants fans have some hope considering the overhaul of the roster and the depth of quality players added this offseason. But if any of these five players can step up… it would mean the Giants can bring a defense firing on all cylinders early in 2014 while Beason heals up, AND have a real shot at challenging for the NFC East title.

Who do you believe will step up and claim the MLB crown during training camp?
