UPDATE:
Giants fans can exhale: can confirm X-rays on Jameel McClain's foot negative, so Tom Coughlin's "sore foot" wish appears to have come true.

The Giants were anything but reluctant to send out the cart during day one of training camp. Most of the player concerns were related to overheating, but first-year Giants linebacker Jameel McClain was removed due to a foot injury. Head coach Tom Coughlin believes McClain was just suffering with foot/metacarpal irritation, but nothing is certain.
Coughlin said Jameel McClain was feeling something "around one of the metatarsals" but is hoping it's "just a matter of a sore foot."

With middle linebacker Jon Beason placed on the active/PUP list yesterday, McClain’s veteran presence at the controls is vital during the training period. So hopefully Coughlin’s guesswork prognosis proves to be accurate.
Additionally, there’s no certainty surrounding Beason’s status for week 1 despite his confident outlook. If he’s forced onto the regular season PUP list he’ll miss the season’s first six weeks.
According to Giants beat writer Art Stapleton, veterans Mark Herzlich and Spencer Paysinger alternated first team reps at MLB in McClain’s absence during 7 on 7 drills. Rookie Devon Kennard is currently playing on the outside with the 1st unit.
