UPDATE: Jameel McClain and Xavier Grimble have also been carted off. McClain was “favoring his leg”, no immediate word on Grimble.
UPDATE: Mosley was suffering with an upset stomach per Giants.com.
According to multiple reports, Giants projected starting right guard Brandon Mosley was carted off the practice field at approximately 2:20 EST. Before Giants Nation begins to fire expletives towards team brass for not selecting Zack Martin in the NFL Draft, media outlets in East Rutherford are speculating Mosley suffered from a heat-related issue. Not structural. NFL Network reporter Kim Jones said it felt like 90+ degrees on the field this afternoon.
With Chris Snee having announced his retirement yesterday, Big Blue obviously cannot afford another casualty along the offensive front. Despite a dearth of NFL experience, the Giants coaching staff is high on 2012 4th round pick Mosley. He saw emergency action in 13 games last season, but started just one in week 15 versus Seattle — Mosley earned a +2.1 Pro Football Focus run block rating during those 34 snaps.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano tweeted that first team reps at RG were passed on to rookie Weston Richburg. Blessed with rare mobility for the center position, the Colorado State alum possesses the versatility to step away from center.
Stay tuned for updates on Mosley’s official status.
