Week 5: Sunday October 5th vs. Atlanta

Injuries decimated the Atlanta Falcons last year. Julio Jones was out for the majority of the 2013 with a foot injury and Roddy White battled injuries throughout the season.

Along with injuries at wideout, Atlanta had the worst overall running game and the second-worst run defense last season. The Falcons, who went 13-3 and made a NFC Championship appearance in 2012, ultimately finished at 4-12 last year.

The NFC Championship appearance now seem like ages ago and questions still linger around the team.

Although they strengthened their offensive line immensely in the draft and free agency, the Giants defensive front should still hold the edge in the trenches. Shutting down the running game will allow Big Blue to pressure Matt Ryan into mistakes.

Prediction: Giants 31, Falcons 21

Week 6: Sunday October 12th @ Philadelphia

The Giants face off against the 2013 NFC East Champions in Week 6.

The Eagles have downgraded during this summer after releasing Jason Avant and DeSean Jackson. There is no other way to put it. That tandem had 120 receptions and almost 1,800 yards receiving last season.

Even with LeSean McCoy in the backfield for the Eagles, one can only expect a drop-off in offensive production with fewer options to spread the wealth.

Along with the best rushing attack in the NFL, Philadelphia also had the worst pass defense in the NFL. Their issues in the secondary were not fully addressed and Eli Manning will dink and dunk the Giants to victory.

Prediction: Giants 27, Eagles 21

Week 7:  Sunday October 19th @Dallas

This year might be a troubling one for Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. Despite having a .500 record in 2013, the Cowboys ranked near the bottom of the league in rush offense, rush defense, and pass defense.

Talent-wise, Dallas will be weaker defensively than last year after releasing DeMarcus Ware and Sean Lee suffering a season-ending injury. With a 34 year-old Tony Romo coming off back surgery, there are questions on the other side of the ball as well.

Despite the Boys game breaking weaponry, the Giants need this game heading into the bye week and overall they are the more talented team.

Prediction: Giants 34, Cowboys 21
