Training Camp with James
Our Lead Writer, James Pennisi, was out at New York Giants training camp today, and he reports back to GMEN HQ that it was a good day for camp.
At Giants last open practice. Beautiful day! @gmenhq pic.twitter.com/6FFl8A0mfk

Let’s see how Training Camp went today:
First snap and Eli drops it. Hope this doesn't set the tone for the day #nyg @gmenhq
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
Well that’s the not the best start, any good news?
Looks like Kellen Davis working with the ones at the moment #NYG
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
But where was Rodney Hampton?
Hard to see but Rodney Hampton is in the house today! One of my favorites growing up #nyg pic.twitter.com/hN7PkZOW2Z
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
So, Rodney Hampton was in the house?
Yes, old number 27 was definitely in attendance, along with another former Giant Greg Comella. One fan was lucky enough to get a great picture with her dad and the old school G-Men:
Thanks to the @Giants for an awesome training camp! My dad was happy to meet Rodney Hampton today, he's a big fan pic.twitter.com/nUbi9el757

What about the Training Camp Gridiron:
Manningham with a flat drop in individuals not helping his case here #nyg
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
Jernigan still running with the ones on the outside. Have to admit, I'm not in love with him there #nyg
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
Finally time for some scrimmage Williams and ARob in with the ones. Eli just hit Cruz down the seam #nyg @gmenhq pic.twitter.com/4y2y0nnoT2
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
Yes, finally training camp…
In case you missed it @gmenhq Eli threw a pick 6 to Bowman on what looked like route confusion with Eli and Randle. Reminiscent last season
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
Whoops, but it is just training camp
Man, DRC is FAST off the edge on field goal kicks. He might get a block this year #nyg @gmenhq
— James (@bigbluebloggers) August 14, 2014
James also ran GMEN HQ Twitter today:
Coughlin visiting a lot of the players during stretching #nyg @gmenhq pic.twitter.com/jRXTcFJrG2
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Watching Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in coverage up close is great
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Wait… Eli up the middle at training camp?
Eli just pumped and ran it down the middle. Uh, not something I hope to see much as a Giants fan
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Yes… but what about the defense?
Kiwanuka just blew up a WR screen. If he didn't bat it down DRC was right there too #nyg
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
It's noticeable to me out here that defense seems to be much more energized then the offensive players
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
And… Corey Washington?
Corey Washington almost made a ridiculous catch on a high Nassib throw. Good defensive play by Weaver to break it up #nyg
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Victor Cruz?
Cruz just fell down a bit awkward on a route from no conctact. Took a second to get up but came off field #nyg
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Is he okay?
Cruz looks to be fine as he is back out there. I can breathe easier now #nyg
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Eli hits Cruz up the seam. Was a real nice pass #nyg
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Anything else?
The offense celebrates as Painter hits Preston Parker for a TD with no time left #nyg
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Stevie Brown ready for a big comeback year #nyg pic.twitter.com/szbH6mJ48X

Training Camp Conclusion
Practice over thanks for following Giants fans! There might be some extra updates over at @bigbluebloggers
— GMEN HQ (@GMENHQ) August 14, 2014
Great work James
Today was a great day for Giants Training Camp, but this team is not in midseason form. They still are making mistakes, still struggling with installing the West Coast Offense and getting the timing down necessary for a quality NFL level offense. It’s also been reported that the Giants leaders participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge, check out the report from GMEN HQ here. Go ahead and click it, it’s a delightful look at Jerry Reese, Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning doing something for a great cause.
Be sure to check back later at GMEN HQ for more of your GIANT coverage. Have a great day Giants Nation!
