New York Giants: Cheerleaders
It feels like the assumption is that all NFL teams, including the New York Giants, have cheerleaders. The truth is, however, that as of 2014, seven professional football organizations do not have official cheerleading squads: Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. All lacking spirit and pom-poms.
Which brings us to the NYUnofficial’s:
Watch that video to get to know the girls of Gotham City a little better. Currently, the ladies are working on a calendar. Here is a tweet from the Gotham City Cheerleaders with the details:
New York Giants: Why Unofficial?
In 2010, John Mara was asked that question. According to the New York Times, here is his response:
"“Philosophically we have always had issues with sending scantily clad women out on the field to entertain our fans,” said John Mara, the Giants co-owner. “It’s just not part of our philosophy.”"
A lot of fans and people across the land share that philosophy, but obviously not all do — including the Gotham City Cheerleaders. From the outside looking in, they seem to really enjoy it. However, when you own an NFL team, you have every right to utilize your families’ personal philosophy’s.
Regardless of the New York Giants official stance on the team having cheerleaders. The Gotham City girls are releasing a calendar, and no doubt, this season they’ll be dancing all over New York in support of many teams. In the mean time, here is the video shoot from the Gotham City Cheerleaders — the NYUnofficials of the New York Giants. Enjoy.
