After former New York Giants running back, Andre Brown, was suddenly released by the Houston Texans a few weeks ago, I wondered if a return to the GMEN was in his future. To be honest, I was a little surprised that there was little to no “noise” when it came to Andre Brown and his return to an NFL team. I always thought Brown was serviceable, when he was able to stay healthy and on the field, and the Giants certainly are thin at running back.

However, today it was reported by Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange that Andre Brown has been suspended for the first 8 games of the NFL season:

We now have our probable answer as to why Brown was suddenly dismissed from the Texans, and why the running back depleted Giants didn’t attempt to bring back one of their former productive runners into the mix. While the reason for Brown’s suspension has not been released yet, it is worth noting he beat a previous 4 game suspension for taking Adderall based on a technicality.

Whatever is going on in Brown’s life, I hope the former fourth round pick is able to make his way back into the NFL after his suspension is over. Brown, who tore his Achilles in training camp as a rookie in 2009, has fought an uphill battle his entire NFL career.

Many Giants’ fans have a saying: once a Giant, always a Giant. Despite your most recent set-back, Giants nation wishes you the best of luck, Andre.
