Have you been waiting to find out the New York Giants team captains for the 2014 NFL season?

You haven’t? Well — GUESS WHAT — we’re telling you who they are anyway. So… without further ado, here is the list:

  1. Eli Manning
  2. Zac DeOssi
  3. Jon Beason
  4. Victor Cruz
  5. Antrel Rolle

Over at Giants.com, they tweeted out a link to their story with all five Jints Captains proudly displayed:

If you click that GIANT link, it takes you to a collection of New York Giants captains from over the years. The interesting thing is that for the second year in a row, the team has five captains. From 2009-2012, the Giants used only three captains, while in 2008 they had five. Probably one of the least relevant stats you’ll ever read.

Close your eyes and picture, feel the pride in yourself, look around at all the fans in the imaginary stadium as you await the coin toss in your mind. Look at the goosebumps on your arm as the NFL machine prepares it production crew in every direction.

Meanwhile, you’re the Captain, the coin is about to be tossed. What do you call, Giants? Heads or Tails?

How did it feel picturing yourself as a New York Giants player, fanatics? Was it everything you dreamed it would be and more? Regardless of those sarcastic emphatic answers, Anthony Valerio (@anthonyvalerio0 ) is here to help you get to know the captains just a little better:

"When you look at this list there are certainly no surprises. First is QB Eli Manning who is entering his 10th season and has two Lombardi’s and two Super Bowl MVP’s to his name. He is widely regarded as a leader in the locker room, so it’s no surprise Eli is once again team captain.Another returning captain is Long Snapper Zak DeOssie who also was a part of the Giants last two Super Bowl winning teams and also has two Pro Bowls to his name. DeOssie is one of the hardest working players on the Giants and sets a standard for always giving full effort every time he’s on the field — that is why he has been a captain for the past couple of seasons and returns again this season. While we are talking about returning captains for the Giants, there hasn’t been a more vocal leader on this team than safety Antrel Rolle. Rolle brings a sense of maturity to a young Giants secondary. Since Rolle’s arrival to Big Blue in 2010, he has instilled a certain swagger to this Giants defense to be not only hard nosed and aggressive but also smart and keen on communication between the defensive personnel. Rolle was a big part of the Giants last Super Bowl win by willing the defense to be confident and attack the ball just like he himself has done for many years. Rolle has been looked up to by members of the Giants defense for years and that is why he too returns as a captain for this season. Now for two newcomers to the list of 2014 New York Giants, Wide Receiver Victor Cruz and Linebacker Jon Beason. Cruz has been one of the greatest rags to riches story in Giants history which is very inspiring to anyone on the team and allows them to believe that if a unknown, un drafted kid from UMass can become of the most prolific receivers in the NFL, than anyone is capable of greatness.Although he is the youngest captain on the team at twenty seven years old, he is a mentor to a very young Giants receiving corps by showing them to be tough, intelligent football players and to help them get acclimated with the team’s offense. That is why is a no brainer Victor Cruz is a team captain for 2014.And last but certainly not least is Linebacker Jon Beason. It is rare to see a player coming off of a major injury, coming to a new team in the middle of last season, and making such an impact like Beason has had. Beason has been a proven solid middle linebacker for years in Carolina before a knee injury seemingly spelled the end for Beason’s career. But the opposite has happened. He immediately took over the Giants defense by being a run stuffer and being solid in coverage. Beason was also keeping other defensive players in the right spots even though he too was learning the defense. Beason in his short time has been the best and most intelligent linebacker the Giants have had in years and shows other players to never listen to naysayers and to never give up no matter what the situation. That is why Jon Beason is a great choice for captain of the 2014 New York Giants."

    Congrats Team Captains!

That said, Giants Nation… FOOTBALL IS IN TWO DAYS!
