The New York Giants win!
The Giants win.
Oh my God the Giants are… 1-2.
While it’s a great day for all those that watched the New York Football Giants beatdown on the previously undefeated Houston Texans, realize they just beat last year’s worst NFL team. Now, it’s not a bad thing, in fact, it’s a good thing. The Jints couldn’t afford to be 0-3. They needed this win and winning efforts from guys like Rashad Jennings and Damontre Moore, and “they” went out and earned it.
Here’s three stories from during the game:
- NY Giants Damontre Moore with the BLOCKED PUNT!
- Rashad Jennings goes over 100 yards
- NY Giants vs Texans: Team BLUE leads 14-0 at Half
This will be your open thread for the evening to discuss the win, the good, bad and the ugly. We’ll leave you with some Twitter reaction from the game this afternoon, but first some stats highlights:
Top Performers
Passing: R. Fitzpatrick (HOU) – 289 YDS, 1 TD, 3 INT
Rushing: R. Jennings (NYG) – 34 CAR, 176 YDS, 1 TD
Receiving: D. Hopkins (HOU) – 6 REC, 116 YDS
"Good sign: The offense also continued to click and work just like McAdoo always said it would. Manning (21/28, 234 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT.) was again efficient and directed some sustained drives. But best of all, they discovered they can indeed run the football. Jennings, as stated, was terrific. On defense, as I said above, the Giants’ pass rush is looking like it has a shot to be dominant this season and Jason Pierre-Paul really is showing flashes of his old self. This time the secondary capitalized on it too with some terrific coverage and a couple of timely turnovers.Bad sign: Special teams remain a nightmare, but worse than that the Giants are just mistake prone. The best Coughlin teams in this era were “clean” teams – not a lot of turnovers or penalties. This team has the look of a team that will spend the entire season trying to dig itself out of bad spots caused by turnovers and penalties. This week was certainly cleaner than last week, but those two previously mentioned mistakes – the Donnell fumble and the bad snap on the field goal attempt – were costly and potentially huge."
