For the second week in a row, the Giants are catching a major break when it comes to injured opponents. Per reports on Twitter, Houston Texans running back, Arian Foster, will be held out of today’s match-up against the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury.
Last week, the Giants were unable to capitalize, at home, when Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was scratched late. The GMEN are currently sitting at 0-2 and have absolutely no margin for error anymore. This game went from being a “must win” to a “if they lose, this season is over”. The Giants can’t let a mediocre Texans team come into their house and beat them without their biggest offensive threat. In fact, the Texans offensive game plan has been centered around a heavy workload for Foster, to try and limit throws by error prone quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
It is also fitting to point out that in my five things to watch for today’s game, I had stopping Arian Foster at #2.
With Foster sidelined, the Giants defense should be able to force the Texans to throw more, which should hopefully induce some interceptions from Ryan Fitzpatrick who has thrown 93 in his career. The Giants defense, who have forced no turnovers so far in 2014, absolutely have to generate some today.
