This headline from the New York Times says it all, Giants Lose Victor Cruz in Embarrassing Loss to Eagles.

Unfortunately it’s true Giants fans, Victor Cruz is on the shelf. Last night, Giants Nation watched as the cart drove away, and Cruz looked so sad and lost. After all, when you lose your health as a player, what else do you have left? You can’t play.

Alone, it was bad enough the feeling Victor must have felt getting blanked by the Philadelphia Eagles, of all teams. But having to lay there and listen to Philly cheer, look at the scoreboard and know that your team was defeated and you were probably done for the year.

GIANT agony

Reading about the play from the same Times Headline:

"Cruz was injured at the end of a rare sequence when the Giants threatened a serious rally. Trailing by 20-0 in the third quarter, the Giants had the ball at the Eagles’ 21-yard line after an interception by cornerback Zack Bowman. The Giants soon had a first down at the 7, but after three more plays, they were only at the 3.Going for it on fourth down, Manning lofted a pass to the right corner of the end zone for Cruz, who twisted his body to get in position to make the catch. Cruz’s right knee buckled slightly as he went for the pass, and the ball caromed off his hands for an incompletion.Cruz grabbed his knee before he hit the turf and remained on the field until he was lifted into a cart and wheeled from the field. He was surrounded by players from both teams and was later admitted to a Philadelphia hospital. The team said he would return to New Jersey on Monday."

Giants fans everywhere were shocked when the injury occurred. It was already a horrid game when this happened, it was silent all around BIG BLUE. Our staff writer Anthony Valerio (@anthonyvalerio0) had this to say on twitter the following day:

As amazing as the “just a nightmare” theory is, sadly that’s exactly what happened. The Giants got humiliated. Eli Manning did get sacked six times and for good measure, Ryan Nassib was sacked twice. Really, I think they’re might have been some fans at home that got sacked, Philly’s defense was all over the place.

After reality set in, Anthony had this to say about @TeamVic:

"While Giants fans await official word from the team on the status of Cruz, he is most likely done for the rest of this season and now the Giants look to the rest of their young receivers to fill the large void left by Cruz’s Pro Bowl caliber production. Regardless, Giants Nation wishes Victor Cruz a recovery that is as quick, fast and great as he is."

For all fans of team BLUE, this injury isn’t easy. In the world of football, Victor Cruz is a salsa dancing dynamo with a penchant for one handed catches and the end zone. Everyone from Eli Manning, to the guy manning the ticket booth will miss what Cruz can do on Sunday’s.

From GMEN HQ to Victor Cruz, get well SOON!
