5. Yards Allowed Per Play
The Giants allowed an average of 6 yards per play in the 2014 season. The minimum goal of any offense is to average 4 yards per play. The Giants allowance of 6 yards per play allowed offenses to stay ahead of the chains, set up convertible third downs and often avoid third downs all together. When you give up big chunks of yards like the Giants did the defense struggles to get off the field and wears down.
