Perryman needs to have a big combine because people question his athleticism. Perryman has the ideal size and strength. He is a textbook tackler and is a great leader on defense. The question marks lie in his athletic ability.
How fast can he run? Can he change directions well? Is he a fluid mover? Are his hips too stiff? What kind of acceleration does he have? These are all questions that Perryman needs to answer in the drills at the combine.
There is so much to like about Perryman as a middle linebacker. For him to be a first round draft pick though, he must show that he is a sensational athlete, not just a big powerful hammer.
