1. WR Dorial Green-Beckham, Oklahoma
Green-Beckham is a player that I have written about before as one of the most interesting stories in this year’s draft. There is no doubting the talent of the big bodied and speedy wide receiver. The question he has to answer is should a team risk their first round draft pick on him?
Green-Beckham has not really played football since he was dismissed from the Missouri Tigers, for several off the field problems. He transferred to Oklahoma, having to sit out a year due to his misconduct. He decided that he would go to the NFL instead of playing for the Sooners. Now nobody knows what to expect from him.
If Green-Beckham can come across as a professional and if he shows contrition for his off the field problems, this will dramatically improve his chances of being a first round draft pick. There is not a team in the NFL that is not enamored with his skill-set.
What Green-Beckham needs to do, on top of good behavior, is to truly put on a show at the combine. He needs to own every drill, and show that he is the best athlete at his position. He needs to make a team or two feel like they have to give him a chance in the first round.
