1. Marcus Mariota, QB (Oregon)

We are sticking to our guns and leaving Mariota as the number one prospect on our big board. Mariota is the most talented quarterback, and unlike Jameis Winston he comes without baggage. Mariota will change the future of whatever team is wise enough to draft him.

The idea that he comes from Oregon’s crazy college offense and that he can’t make it in a pro-style offense is preposterous. Mariota impressed at the combine with his footwork and mechanics, to the surprise of many. Mariota has every attribute to be a franchise quarterback while many talking heads want to make every excuse possible to hide that simple fact.

Mariota has arm talent, accuracy, poise and football IQ. Staying up to 2 am on the east coast, watching the Oregon Ducks was an event that you looked forward to. The Ducks quarterback was the reason why. He has the ability to extend plays with his feet, remaining a passer and keeping his eyes down the field.

I am not saying this for the shock effect. He has a skill set comparable to that of Aaron Rodgers. If he falls to the 6th pick, the Jets will have gotten a discount double check in my opinion.
