5. Jameis Winston, QB (FSU)

Look, I am not sold on Jameis Winston as a franchise quarterback. Don’t get me wrong he has the potential. The 6-4 230 pound quarterback looks the part and he certainly has the rocket arm, that is coveted in the NFL. He has the potential, making him the 5th player on this list, but if I was a general manager, getting me to draft him would be a tough sell.

Lets start with why he is the 5th most valuable player in this draft. He could be the quarterback who saves the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it looks more and more like a lock that he is drafted number one overall. In 2 seasons as the FSU gunslinger he has scored 60 passing touchdowns and thrown for 7,964 yards. He also has 284 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.

Of course in 2014 he threw 18 interceptions, started most games slowly and looked as polished as a rocking chair stuck in an attic. He does have the clutch gene though,  and he led many comeback wins and game scoring drives.

Winston has potential, and it would be impossible for a quarterback desperate franchise to pass up on. He comes with problems both on the field and off however so it is very much a drafter’s beware situation.
