Report Card: 2008 NFL Draft

Drafted Players:

  1. Kenny Phillips, SS Miami (Rd.1 31st overall pick)
  2. Terrell Thomas, CB USC (Rd. 2 63rd overall pick)
  3. Mario Manningham, WR Michigan (Rd. 3 95th overall pick)
  4. Bryan Kehl, LB BYU (Rd. 4 123rd overall pick)
  5. Jonathon Goff, LB Vanderbilt (Rd. 5 165th overall pick)
  6. Andre Woodson, QB Kentucky (Rd. 6 198th overall pick)
  7. Robert Henderson, DE Southern Miss (Rd. 6 199th overall pick)

Base Hits, No Home Runs

The Giants drafted three solid players who had some good moments in New York. Still there is no home run draft pick in this draft class. Mario Manningham is perhaps the most valuable pick of this draft class. He is of course remembered for his sideline catch in the Super Bowl.

Kenny Phillips was not a bad pick, as he was a decent player for the Giants from 2008-2012. He had eight interceptions in his Giants career. While he probably was not worth the first round pick, I can live with the selection. Terrell Thomas was a decent cornerback who had 12 interceptions with the Giants from 2008-2013. It is a decent pick, but again not a great one.

Draft Grade: C+

The Giants did not drastically improve their roster with this draft class, though they got a few solid players. It’s not much to write home about but nothing to be ashamed of.
