The Bears are one hot mess. What’s so shocking about this is that they have some of the NFL’s best playmakers and the can’t make any progress with them. They have one of the NFL’s best running backs in Matt Forte, a great receiver in Alshon Jeffery, and the versatile Martellus Bennett at tight end.
As bad of a wrap as Jay Cutler gets, he should be able to get the job done with those players around him. The only thing wrong with Cutler is that he is overpaid. He has one of the best arms in the NFL. If he wasn’t making so much money, critics would take it easy on him.
They have been plagued by a horrible defense, locker room issues, and questionable leadership these past couple of years. The firing of Lovie Smith a couple of years ago may have given them a curse. After all, he did coach them to a 10-6 record.
New head coach John Fox is a defensive coach, just like Smith is. He should help the defense get back on track, so they managed to do one thing right so far.
