San Francisco 49ers Report Card: C+

We move down to the San Francisco 49ers and besides their free agency so far, they have retirement issues. The Niners’ players seemed to dropping like flies after linebacker Patrick Willis and defensive end Justin Smith hanged up their boots.

The loss of Gore to the Colts also hurt them in many ways, but the Niners have been coping and signed wide out Smith. They patched up the defensive end problem by signing Dockett and also linking up with cornerback Shareece Wright.

The Niners haven’t made the signings that they had hoped, but give them credit for trying. Along with Gore, Lupati, Skuta, Johnson and cornerback Chris Culliver have wandered off.

Don’t expect the same Niners you’ve been seeing the past couple years, but they won’t be awful. If they get a couple more signings in then they have a shot in competing in their division.
