Atlanta Falcons Report Card: C

We move on to the Atlanta Falcons, they’ve made several signings, but did they really improve the squad? The Falcons had more than a disappointing season last year and needed to make a splash in the free agent market. Their best pick-up till now is Houston Texans’ outside linebacker Brooks ReedHe could bring that aggression that the Falcons were looking for last season as Reed was part of that J.J Watt defense in Houston since 2011.

In addition, they’ve brought in defensive ends Adrian Clayborn and O’Brien SchofieldIt looks like the Falcons main concern was defense, but there’s not a name that really brings you in. New signings on the defensive side include corner back Phillip Adams and outside linebacker Justin Durant.

They’re biggest loss on the sheet is Weatherspoon who was versatile in that linebacker core. They also gave away wide receiver Harry Douglas, who was good enough to be a No. 4 on that receiving unit, but he’s off to Tennessee.

The Falcons and new head coach Dan Quinn needs to do a little better than what they’ve been doing in free agency. It’s a good sign that they’re looking defensively, but they need to spend the cash if they want to compete.
