10. Will the Giants Draft Brandon Scherff?

It has been highly speculated that Brandon Scherff will be the Giants pick at the 9th overall slot in the draft. Will the Giants draft an offensive lineman in the first round? More specifically will they draft Scherff in the first round? Lets discus.

The Giants are in search for help along the offensive line, so Scherff would be an option. Many see Scherff as a guard at the next level, a very good one. It is rare to use a top 10 pick on an offensive guard, but it is not unheard of.

Scherff is the best run blocking offensive lineman in this draft, and the Giants want to get better with their rushing attack. I have little doubt that Scherff interests the Giants’ brass, but I don’t know that he is a lock at the 9th pick.

The Giants clearly have other needs. The entire defense needs help, as the unit ranked 29th in 2014. The Giants have a top ten pick. With two quarterbacks likely to be taken before their pick, this pushes back a lot of talented options for the Giants. The Giants need help on defense and there are a number of positions they could choose from. Still it would not be surprising to see the Giants ignore their defensive needs and draft Scherff.
