9. Where Will Randy Gregory Be Drafted?

When a player like Randy Gregory is in the draft class, it is hard to know where he is going to be selected. This is because he has top ten potential but 2nd round polish. The question that looms largely on my mind, is where will Gregory be drafted.

I have Randy Gregory ranked 31st overall on the GMENHQ Big Board 2.0. This means that I have a late first round value on the Nebraska defensive end. I take issue with his slow first step and his one dimensionality as a defensive end.

He wins off the edge because he is a special athlete with special talents. The problem is that he is not a good run defender, could definitely bulk up some and relies on his quickness and length almost exclusively to get to the passer.

It would be hard to see Gregory fall to the 31st pick. There will be a team who will look past his flaws to get their hands on his amazing potential. However I do believe that several pass rushers have earned their way in front of Gregory’s draft stock. Shane Ray, Vic Beasley, Dante Fowler Jr. and Alvin Dupree are great pass rushers who I would have much fewer reservations drafting.
