2. Marcus Mariota, QB (Oregon)
There is no getting around this. I have been called a Mariota apologist because I think he is a bona fide superstar. That being said he comes from Oregon’s spread out attack and he is not used to playing under center in a pro style offense.
We will have to wait and see if Mariota can have his talents translate into the NFL. Mariota would benefit from being taken by the right team. His talents would shine best in a fast paced west coast offense.
I do want to be clear though that Mariota is the number one ranked player on my big board for a reason. He has great arm talent, he is an accurate passer and he is a good decision maker with a quick release.
Anytime a team drafts their franchise quarterback to be, it is a big risk. Mariota has a big transition into professional football.
