5.  Ali Marpet, OG (Hobart)

Ali Marpet may be the most athletically gifted offensive guard in this draft class. This was on display at the NFL Combine when he ran the fastest 40 yard dash for any offensive linemen there.

Marpet’s value though in the draft is hard to determine. He was a dominant college football player, but he was the only NFL player at Hobart. The level of competition hurts Marpet’s draft stock.

Marpet probably is best suited for a 3rd round draft pick. That minimizes the risk of taking the small school player. That being said it would not be all that difficult to see a player from Hobart, a school you’ve never even heard of taken in the 4th round.

If the talented Marpet makes it to the 4th round he is a steal. You could make an argument that he would be a steal in the 3rd round because he is that gifted of an athlete. Jerry Reese loves to take a chance on small school players, and the Giants need offensive line help. Don’t be shocked to see Marpet wearing the Giants’ Big Blue.
