I’ve seen Armstead mocked at the Giants No. 9 slot a couple of times and I’m really not a fan of the projected pick. To me, Armstead feels like a bit of a tweener in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. His 6’7″ and 292 lb. frame is kind of in between an interior defensive lineman and an end.

Plus he’s kind of a work in progress. Last season, the team’s draft strategy seemed to be heavily based on “safe” draft choices. Armstead doesn’t seem to be that. It seems as though his draft stock is heavily determined on his athletic ability than his play on the field.

The Giants couldn’t go wrong adding another defensive lineman to their rotation, but where would Armstead’s style fit? Not a fan. I’d stay away from him.
