4. Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Ok, let me explain this one. If Marcus Mariota falls to the Giants spot at 9 this will entice teams like San Diego, New Orleans, Cleveland and others to trade up because of the smaller price to pay than it would be to trade up to let’s say Tennessee’s spot at No. 2.
Obviously, why would the team select Mariota with their first round choice, right? Well, remember the Giants Johnny Manziel rumor last year? I guess you never know, but I’d stay away from Mariota even if there was a need at quarterback.
I don’t know if his huddle-less style in college translates to a pro-style offense, not sold on his leadership skills, and his limited snaps under center are worrisome. As you can tell I’m not a big fan of him, but if he falls to the No. 9 spot I guarantee you a team would offer to trade up into the Giants position.
