2. Clive Walford, Miami
The runner-up on our list of tight ends in the draft is Clive Walford from Miami. The powerful senior could be the first one off the board, but it’s his past that haunts him. Walford has the tendency to drop his passes which is something that NFL teams stay away from. Walford’s blocking is also a slight problem, but there’s no doubt over his athletic ability.
Walford has what it takes to make it to the NFL, if he works on his mechanics. During his time at Miami he only grabbed 121 passes ending up in the endzone 14 times. The most impressive trait that Walford displays his jump speed when the ball snaps. Walford moves quick off the line and has the ability to bring the ball down when he’s moving around and about.
An NFL team shouldn’t hesitate to grab Walford because he’s perfect for mismatches. The moment he finds a mismatch, Walford takes any opportunity presented in front of him and he makes them pay with his strong hands. The slight downfall to Walford’s physical statue is his lower body because defenses can pick up on that, especially in the big league.
Don’t be surprised if you see Walford snatched-up early in the second round as he has all the attributes and With a little push; he could perfect them.
