38. Paul Dawson, LB (TCU)

Dawson is a fast linebacker who hits hard and diagnoses plays quickly. There is something about this player that I find so exciting when I watch him. He is a lightning bolt at the linebacker position.

With his good quickness and good athletic ability he is not a liability in passing situations. He is also a fairly accomplished blizer. In the run game he is aggressive. Sometimes he is too aggressive but that’s nothing that cannot be fixed with experience and coaching.

Dawson has some character concerns. I think he has first round talent, but second round polish. When you add on what seemingly is a lack of maturity and work ethic I wouldn’t be shocked to see him fall to the third round.

If I were Jerry Reese, I couldn’t justify a first round grade on Dawson. But with a strong coaching staff led by Tom Coughlin, Dawson would fit perfectly with the Giants if there in the second round.
