player. 124. <p>The Chiefs have lost Eric Berry for an indefinite amount of time due to his illness so it would make sense to have a backup plan. Now, you’re probably thinking “why take a possible backup plan this high in the 1st-round?” Well, I’ll tell you.</p> <p>For one, this draft is a disaster at the safety position. Can you name me anyone else you’ve even heard of after Collins? So, you won’t exactly find an NFL caliber starter much later on in the draft so this pick adds some value.</p> <p>Also, you look at the relevance of the safety position going back to the final game of the year in Super Bowl XLIX and realize that the two best secondaries also happen to be playing in the biggest game. They could go cornerback here, but with the 18th pick to get the best safety in the draft isn’t bad at all.</p>. Strong Safety. Alabama. Landon Collins. 18
