Quarterback. FSU. Jameis Winston. 1. player. 48.
It’s not secret pro-style quarterbacks are valued more than spread option quarterbacks. Just look at the last 2 Florida State quarterbacks drafted. Both Christian Ponder and E.J. Manuel were neither worthy of top 15 draft picks, yet the pro-style system at Florida State led both Buffalo and Minnesota into believing they were NFL ready.

Jameis Winston does have his faults off the field and with his elongated throwing motion, but he’s the most pro-ready quarterback in this draft. Plus, I liked that he struggled a bit last season because he bounced back and still won football games. Many quarterbacks at the college level are pampered because they’re “the quarterback of the football team.”

Sometimes it’s good to struggle because there is going to be plenty of that at the NFL level. I’m very impressed with Winston’s on the field leadership and mentality. I think he makes the most sense for this Tampa Bay offense especially with weapons like Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans to work with.
