The Giants defense was an absolute mess last season. The way to fix that is to own the line of scrimmage with the mammoth Danny Shelton. Shelton has a skill set that some compare to Vince Wilfork, but I really see a Haloti Ngata like player. Shelton will make the entire defense better. The Giants need him, and he is the best player available at this point. This is a no brainer for me.

Shelton is a dominant 339 pounds, standing tall at 6-2. He is an explosive player off the ball and he has a rare combination of speed and power. Shelton can play in the 4-3 or 3-4 defense, he is built to do it all. He is a penetrating player that will demand double teams which will only make the rest of the front seven even more effective.
<div class=. Defensive Tackle. Washington. Shelton will take up space and blockers, making life easier for the Giants linebackers. Shelton will help turn around the Giants defensive woes in 2014, where they gave up 4.9 yards per carry.

The Giants were interested in Ndamukong Suh when free agency came around. Shelton may end up being the better player and instead of a huge contract he will be paid under the rookie wage scale. This is a rare defensive talent that the Giants have to take with the 9th overall selection.
